The Legacy of the Gulf War
A major problem faced by Gulf War veterans is illnesses related to uranium exposure. Depleted uranium was used in bombs to penetrate armor. Depleted uranium is a highly toxic heavy metal and some studies have linked exposure to birth defects and an increased risk of cancer. More than 100,000 war veterans have reported unexplained illness, in a phenomenon sometimes know as Gulf War Syndrome.

One take on the outcome of the Gulf War, is that although American forces had success in solving the main problems in the end, those problems did not remain solved and the United Nations is torn apart (not at all united).

However a person wants to look at the Gulf War, one thing is certain: the success of America resulted in the probability that the US will not fight another war like the Gulf War. Countries will be more cautious in the future when it comes to messing with the Unites States, which is overall a positive.
